SHARK POINT, KING CRUISER & KOH DOC MAI - Diving Trip (from Phuket)
Shark Point is named for the frequent sightings of Zebra Sharks in the area and is made up of 3 main pinnacles and is located 27km from Phuket. The site has the most diversity of fish and corals among all Phuket and Phi Phi Islands dive sites and has areas covered with striking purple and pink soft corals.
King Cruiser wreck was a car and passenger ferry servicing the Phuket to Phi Phi Islands route that sank on 4 May 1997 after hitting a Anemone Reef on its way to Phi Phi Islands. The incredible variety of marine life of the King Cruiser wreck, make it one the most famous dive spot of Thailand.
The 85 meters long wreck has four decks and large passages but as the top deck at the stern has collapsed the wreck is now considered unsafe for penetration. Divers can explore the passenger deck level at a depth of 18 – 22 meters and check out the remains of the wheelhouse at the top level.
Koh Doc Mai, "Flower Island", is a small limestone island about 20km east of Phuket. The vertical limestone walls continue underwater with a sheer drop on the east side and a slightly gentler slope on the west side and the depth can get down to 25 meters. The wall is covered in soft corals, gorgonians, sea whips and fan corals. It’s a place for smaller critters like seahorses, ghost pipefish and nudibranchs which makes it real macro lover’s site, although bigger fish like leopard sharks or schools of various reef fish can be found.
During the boat trip you set up the dive gear and get a briefing. Upon arrival to the destination you'll jump into the water for the first dive. Lunch is after the dive on the boat and more diving coming up in the afternoon.

Everyone up to 75 years old participants are insured on trips or diving courses conducted by Raya Divers. The insurance is approved by Thai T.A.T. (Tourist Authority of Thailand), and it covers evacuation and treatment for accidents up to 500 000 THB (approx. 12 500 EUR). Most accidents are minor (stumbling on the deck of a boat, dehydration, etc), which the insurance covers easily. However, we recommend each traveler to have their own travel insurance, and for certified divers to have an insurance specifically for scuba diving. This would assist you to avoid possible coverage problems on severe injuries, decompression chamber treatment or expensive evacuation cases back to your home country.
